KAY TOTAL MAKEUP SHOP -a makeup shop Daehak-ro 12-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea interior and exterior,2015 70.7cubic meters wood, lightings, tiles, glasses and other interior materials
I was commissioned by Kay, a Canadian FX makeup artist, to design and construct the Kay Total Makeup Shop in Korea. The design features strategic lighting to enlarge the space and eco-friendly wood textures to enhance its natural feel.
Key Contributions:
Design and Layout: Personally designed the shop’s layout and oversaw the entire construction process.
Woodworking: Completed doors, shelves, walls, furniture, and tables in collaboration with a carpenter.
Electrical and Plumbing: Led a team to install plumbing and electrical systems with minimal thickness to maximize insulation and ceiling height.
Insulation Installation: Coordinated with two part-time workers and one full-time employee for insulation tasks.
Floor Wiring and Pipe Embedding: Executed with the assistance of two specialists.

Design Plan
Ceiling and Wall insulation
Objective: Design an eco-friendly, natural, and antique-style makeup shop located on a 7th-floor rooftop.
Key Features:
Eco-Friendly Design: Utilized 50mm glass wool insulation, which is five times more effective than concrete, for significant energy savings in heating and cooling.
Energy Efficiency: Achieves permanent energy savings, maintaining a comfortable indoor environment with minimal energy consumption.
Space Optimization: Designed narrow walls and ceilings to maximize space utilization. Environmental Impact:
CO2 Emission Reduction: While producing 10 tons of glass wool emits 0.8 tons of CO2, the insulation can reduce annual CO2 emissions by up to 6 tons. Over an average lifespan of 50 years, this equates to a total reduction of 300 tons of CO2 emissions.
Contribution:
Design and Management: Personally designed the shop and managed the entire construction process, ensuring both environmental sustainability and aesthetic appeal.
Floor horizontal working wiring, and Pipeline embedding
To reduce the consumption of wall space, water purifier piping and additional continuous piping were floored to level the basin.
Bathroom
I fixed the wall on the floor so that the furniture in the bathroom would float on the floor and set the lights on the bottom of the furniture. This provides users with a clean and extended space. I also installed a boiler on the ceiling.

Furniture
Toilet furniture, wardrobe, tea making, and bookshelves, etc., were mounted on the wall at 280mm, without touching the floor. It is installed on concrete and 12mm plywood and installed to withstand the weight of 300kg. And indirect lighting was established in the place where the shelves were cut. This not only makes space look wider, but it also makes it possible to maintain cleanliness in management. The multipurpose cabin installed in the centre of the dressing room made it possible to optimize it in a small space by considering the operator’s movement.

All the doors of this shop were made by me in the field according to the design.
Table
The walls, windows and doors of the terrace were made of red pine. The decks on the terrace floor were made of Kurin painted with stain paint.
